Assessments

Assessments provide data. The ability to properly analyze the results of an assessment taking into consideration the client’s individual situation and to formulate an effective treatment plan takes experience. Individuals seeking assessments for probation and other legal matters, sex addiction, and bariatric surgery can be assured that I will provide a comprehensive, accurate report.

Drug and Alcohol

Adolescents and adults each require specific drug and alcohol assessments to evaluate their patterns of use based upon age and lifestyle. Assessment tools used are: SASSI (Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory), MAST (Michigan Alcohol Screening Test), DAST (Drug Abuse Screening Test), and the DSM IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders).

Sex and Love Addiction

A highly instructive assessment tool for Sex Addiction, the SDI (Sexual Dependency Inventory), was created in 1988 based on research by Dr. Patrick Carnes. The SDI has been developed and refined and is now considered the definitive assessment for sex addiction. My training as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist allows me to administer and interpret the SDI on behalf of my clients. The Sex Addiction Screening and Love Addiction Screening tests provide additional information that improves outcomes.

Psychological Assessment for Bariatric Surgery

Physicians and insurance companies may require an assessment for patients considering bariatric surgery. The assessment includes a thorough history, motivations for having the surgery, and the patient’s psychological strengths and support systems.
